Cabin in the Woods: reimagined
This project reimagines Cabin in the Woods as a horror-comedy adventure for younger audiences, inspired by the playful darkness of films such as Coraline. Set in a world where all adults and monsters are portrayed as puppets, the story creates a whimsical yet unsettling atmosphere that balances fantasy, humor, and horror.
As Production Designer, I completely re-envisioned the film’s visual aesthetic, developing a stylized world centered on a gravity-defying cabin inspired by Dr. Seuss's distorted architecture. I designed and fabricated an original monster puppet character, created concept drawings and SketchUp models for both the cabin and the underground monster facility, and conducted research into materials, fabrication methods, and sourcing. The project explored how production design, puppetry, and environmental storytelling can transform a mature horror concept into an engaging experience for younger audiences.
